Celine- Final Presentation

This is our final Celine presentation. As a group we compiled all the information and also each had sections in which we had to present on our own. The presentation itself was 10 minutes long, previously timing ourselves we kept within the time limit. We mirrored the layout in each slide and kept true to the clean cut Celine look.

My contribution the team was the brands position within the market. Celine is a high end expensive luxury brand, positioned high in the market it has a network revenue of €172.2 million a year. Phoebe Philo for vogue in 2005 stated that "Everything we're doing is about going forward" meaning that the brand is always evolving to suit new trends and its consumer but always stays true to it's classic luxury style. I created a design equation depicting how Celine is an elegant, sophisticated, luxurious, classic brand. It specialises in high quality luxe sportswear and offers its consumers a feminine identity with an androgynous look. Its competitors include other high end luxury brands such as Bottega Venetta, Balenciaga, Michael Kors, Louis Vuitton and Chloe, and even copycat brands such as high street brand Zara.

My other contribution was the making of the Invitation on photoshop, We looked at creating a specialist invitation in the form of a flight boarding pass mirroring the luggage theme. The invitation itself won't depict a lot of information just a date and note of secret location, this make the release more exclusive. We ill also make envelopes in the style of the classic diamond bag keeping part of its brand identity.

'100 years of fashion'

100 years of fashion by Cally Blackman documents in pictures the most exciting and diverse period of fashion; from 1900 to today, covering high society, uniforms, sportswear, street wear and couture. The last 100 years of fashion bore witness to a huge transformation. The restricted corsetry of the early twentieth century gave way to looser styles such as those made fashionable by french fashion designer Paul Poiret. As women's lives changed dramatically under the shadow of 2 World Wars, so the style of female dress was altered beyond recognition. From home dressmaking to couture, from rationing to 'The New Look,' from the birth of the teenager to mass manufacture, from high society to celebrity culture.

The book itself includes over 400 photographs and illustrations, many published for the first time, which tell the story of a fashion revolution.

Diana Vreeland- The Eye Has To Travel

Diana Vreeland: The Eye Has to Travel is an artistic masterpiece displaying the upbringing, inspirations and life time works of renowned fashion editor Diana Vreeland. She had a somewhat troubled childhood, but despite not having any qualifications became the 'Empress of Fashion' for over 50 years. Throughout her reign she launched Twiggy's career and celebrated Barbra Streisand's nose, she saw things in people before they saw it themselves essentially launching a new generation.

For 25 years Vreeland was the editor for Harpers Bazzar where she became a household name and to this day is an inspiration. She then went on to become the editor-in-chief of vogue, followed by a remarkable visionary at the Metropolitan Museum of Arts Costume Institute , where she popularised historical collections of clothes. The film itself educated me about styles of the 20th century and their history (even if it was over exaggerated by Vreeland herself).
I enjoyed this film very much as before university if you'd asked me "Who is Diana Vreeland?" i would've had no clue but she was the driving force behind so many different factors within the fashion industry I feel ashamed that I had no idea. A definite recommendation for anyone wanting to work within the fashion industry.
