NYC Trend Report

From research undertaken in New York I created a trend report using most of my own images with brief commentary. When making this booklet I considered the design to be that of a fashion magazine and by visually tapping into emerging markets I have showcased common trends using stereotypical types of people found in each area I visited.

The feedback I received after informally presenting to a group was that the magazine inspiration idea was great as it showed I'd looked at resources for inspiration into my layout. The production and creative execution was good and I had observed links from location to product and style. Criticism is that I should maybe have used in store photographs to display visual merchandising of shops in each area of the city, I also need to proof read my work and learn to Harvard reference.

The Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier: From the Sidewalk to the The Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier: From the Sidewalk to the Catwalk is the first international exhibition dedicated to the groundbreaking French couturier. Playful, poetic, and transformative, Gaultier’s superbly crafted and detailed garments are inspired by the beauty and diversity of global cultures.

The multimedia exhibition displays Gaultier's development—from the streets of Paris to the cinema—since he emerged as a designer in the 1970s. From the designer’s earliest to his most recent collections, many of which are displayed on custom mannequins with interactive faces created by high-definition audiovisual projections. 

Trend-ology at the Fashion Institute of Technology

Fashion trends are constantly changing. A single shift in print, color, material, embellishment, or silhouette may quickly become a major new trend. Yet while the contemporary fashion press tirelessly reports the latest trend news, it offers scant insight into where trends originate. Utilizing 100 objects from the museum’s permanent collection, Trend-ology examines the diverse sources from which fashion trends have emerged over the past 250 years, including urban street style, art, music, film, and socio-political movements. Whilst at the Fashion Institute of Technology I had the opportunity to visit the exhibition, even though pictures weren't allowed I managed to sneak a few. 

Cardiff Street Style

Living in Cardiff for 18 years of my life I have blindly thought that it had no style whatsoever, going home over the Christmas period taught me that I was wrong. from mismatch of pattern to the skater look Cardiff has style hidden within the large city.

London Street Style

Whilst walking through London it is always packed full of fashionistas young and old. Here are a few people I noticed walking around who possessed something a bit different from the normal.
